Active Query Builder is a .Net-ready ActiveX visual query builder component that allows your end-users to build complex SQL queries via an intuitive visual interface. It differs from other query builders by its powerful SQL parser that correctly handles SQL queries containing multiple nested joins and other fine points of SQL syntax. Another feature is the powerful graphical engine that allows you to build queries involving unions and sub-queries.
The interface of Active Query Builder is similar to either MS-Access or SQL Server visual query construction interface, but is much more powerful compared to other similar components. The unique features of Active Query Builder such as the ability to build queries with unions and sub-queries make it the best solution for professional developers.
Active Query Builder supports SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Interbase/Firebird, SQLite, and ANSI-92 SQL dialects. The sophisticated Active SQL parser can translate any valid SQL statement into it’s visual representation.
ActiveX Query Builder controls and iterfaces can be used in any software project which supports ActiveX controls as well as in the .Net projects. For example, you can use it with Visual Basic 6.0, Visual Basic .NET, Visual C++ 6.0, Visual C#, Delphi and so on. The component may be integrated into your application with just a few lines of code.
ActiveX Query Builder can be used as a Windows Forms .NET control as easy as ActiveX control. You can simply work with the wrapper class that calls appropriate properties, methods and events from the COM dll. Using ActiveX Query Builder in .NET application you even don’t need to register COM object server, so you can deploy your solutions without registration. The only thing you need is .NET Framework!
There are two editions available: the Standard Edition and the Free Edition. The Free Edition is fully functional, but supports only the ANSI-92 SQL dialect.

The news that Patrick Fitzgerald is convening a second grand jury in order to continue his investigation of the leaking of Valerie Plame’s identity as a covert CIA agent comes as a reminder that Karl Rove should be relieved of his governmental duties. Reviewing Rove’s record, one learns of an appalling history of dirty tricks. As early as 1970, when he was working for Republican candidates in Illinois, Rove used a phony I.D. to enter the campaign office of Democrat Alan J. Dixon, who was running for State Treasurer. Rove pilfered 1000 sheets of Dixon’s campaign letterhead and printed them with false campaign rally fliers that promised “free beer, free food, girls and a good time for nothing. He then distributed them at rock concerts and homeless shelters. Rove’s role in that deception only came to light in 1973. Dixon was elected despite the fake campaign rally, but the point is that the die was already cast for Rove’s character. While conducting George W. Bush’s campaign for governor of Texas against Anne Richards, Rove more than once initiated smear campaigns against Richards involving alleged lesbians on her staff. In the run-up to the 2004 presidential election, he was responsible for the distribution of pamphlets in minority communities wrongly saying that if one has been convicted of any legal infraction, including a parking ticket, one may not vote. Specifically as regards Fitzgerald’s grand jury investigations, Rove has knowingly lied about his role in the leak of Plame’s identity. Just the fact that he lied about such a thing, under oath or not, demonstrates depravity, and contempt for the nation he is charged with serving. The people who benefit from Rove’s dirty tricks, Bush and company and their supporters, comprehend that Rove is underhanded and unscrupulous. With nauseating winks, nudges, and smiles, they give their approval of his illicit activities. But the country deserves leadership of much greater integrity.

It’s a bit like being Kate Thornton on The X-Factor. [suspense-ish music] “I can now reveal…. [10 min pause]…. that the WINNER… [20 min pause]… by a SINGLE vote… [45 min pause]… is… [3 hour pause]… coming up right after this ad break! [winks to camera] Don’t go away!” [Studio audience groans theatrically as though this doesn’t happen every single week] Well, it was close. But the two paragraphs of personal information came out on top, by just one vote. So two paragraphs you shall have. If you are horrified by this result, or you feel it will tarnish our co-blogship forever, please look away now. Here they are. Past:
My father is from the East and my mother is from the West. I grew up in a fairly dull part of the Home Counties. You might call it an unhappy childhood; if you offered me a million quid to relive a single month of it, I’d turn you down. Luckily, I escaped at 18 to to study English literature in London. I chose the university purely on the basis of its arty students and cool staff. This is possibly a prime example of why 18-year-olds shouldn’t be allowed to make important decisions. But I don’t regret it. My pink-haired, pierced professors taught me how to think for myself. “Question everything,” they said. Present:
My creative work is split. I am half musician and half writer. If forced at gunpoint to choose between the two artforms, I’d be torn, but I’d choose music. Those who guessed at music journalism weren’t wrong: some of my earnings are from this source. I have a bit of an ethical dilemma with it at times… obviously free music and guestlist places are pleasant enough, but essentially your writing is an extension of a corporate PR effort to shift product. Like all big business, the music industry isn’t very nice, and that’s putting it mildly. On the positive side, interviewing creative people has meant I’ve been able to have long conversations with two of my heroes. The first time was when I was 16 and still at school. I’d blagged my way to him with lies and cheek and teenage bravado. It was my first ever ‘celeb’ interview and it was an excruciating experience. The second time, I was a more sensible 29, and it was a delight. I wasn’t disappointed by either of the subjects, but it was hell on toast to try and do them justice in words afterwords. Oh yeah, and I’m female.
